Planning a wedding can be an exciting, overwhelming, and time consuming endeavor. COUNTDOWN TO YOUR PERFECT WEDDING will give brides the exact amount of information they need to plan the wedding they want. It breaks down pre-wedding tasks into manageable bits of information and serves as a point-by-point checklist so that nothing slips through the cracks and nothing is left undone.

Unlike other books, COUNTDOWN is arranged on a 52-week timeline (one year is the average amount of time brides take to plan a wedding) that explains what needs to be done when. Each week will feature an essential aspect of a beautiful wedding and will include tips and insider information on how brides can get what they want, budgeting considerations, definition of terms, as well as feature information for "Brides On A Budget" and "When Money Is No Object.

For brides who wish they could hire a wedding planner but can't afford one, this book will hold their hand through the process so they can plan the wedding of their dreams.

5Easy to understand step by step guide  May 12, 2010
I love the logical and simple week to week "TO DO" list. So many wedding planning guides jump around all over the place in no logical order so this book appeals to my way of doing things. Its a great value, one-stop-shop for any bride - no other books needed (or maybe just a few premium wedding glossies to give you decor and style inspiration)! Buy this BEFORE you start planning your big day. Its easy to read and has some great practical tips.

5Fabulous!  Feb 10, 2010
This book was so easy to read and understand. It it THE wedding planning book to have!

5The most helpful how-to book on weddings  Sep 21, 2009
After using this book as my bible in planning my wedding, I was just going write a review about how valuable Countdown to Your Perfect Wedding was for me. But having just logged on and seen the previous 2 negative reviews, I now feel compelled to respond to those comments, because I strongly disagree with them.

I think that the reviewer who trashes the book for not being "modern" is completely missing the point that the author is trying to make about music and entertainment - which is to consider alternatives other than the norm. I don't think the author was suggesting that a barbershop quartet or a fortune teller is a "modern" alternative - just something DIFFERENT to consider. But regardless of who's right or wrong about this one particular issue, this is just one issue on one page of a book that has almost 300 pages of great information and advice. Speaking in more general terms, this reviewer even admits that the book is "organized well and the timeline is nice," then gives it the lowest possible grade anyway. I'm glad this reviewer wasn't one of my college professors!

Another reviewer offered the opinion that this book is not appropriate for those who are on a budget. Actually, there are numeous tips sprinkled throughout the book with a special heading "For Brides on a Budget". I greatly appreciated these tips and followed many of them, because I was on a budget too (who isn't these days?). This reviewer also seems upset with the amount of detail involved with the author's approach to wedding planning. Yes, there were a lot of details to deal with in planning a wedding, but if you don't have the time or interest in taking care of these details, do what I did - ask for help from friends and family. Or you can just ignore all those details if you don't care whether your wedding day runs smoothly.

Overall, I found Countdown to Your Perfect Wedding to be the best resource for planning my wedding. I picked up other books and read lots of articles online and in magazines, but this book helped me the most. The week-by-week approach really kept me on track. I had a wonderful wedding this summer, and this book really helped make it possible.

1Insiped, boring, and out of date is how to describe this book  Sep 16, 2009
I got this book and have to admit I regret it. The book is so out of date and out of touch with modern brides. The author actually suggests that some "modern" and "zany" entertainment ideas for your wedding include barbershop quartets and fortune tellers. Can you imagine?

What I will say that is good about this book is that it is organized well and the timeline is nice. But that does not make up for the other decifiencies. Skip it.

2handfulls of discouragement, very different priorities  Feb 12, 2009
if you are planning your own wedding, and you are on a budget i would never recommend this book for you. i found getting through the whole book while planning our wedding comparable to being force fed handfuls of discouragement. most noticeably, her priorities are so far from my line. after reading her suggestions figures and budget, were so far off from do-able in my area, that i am positively more concerned for my shortcomings than i am excited for our day. if you are looking for a book to absolutely nitpick every tiny little head aching detail and unnecessary expense, than this is defiantly the book for you. i am absolutely discouraged and absolutely frustrated after reading this. in my opinion, if you have a budget under $20,000 do not read this book.
