5Sex Therapy text  Jan 21, 2008 By Y. Makidon "MFT therapist"
I am a Ph.D. student in a marriage and family therapy program. This book was assigned by the professor of my sex therapy class. It is clinical and in some aspects 'over my head' with medical information. But it is well written and provides excellent information on various sexual related disorders and dysfunctions. The information will serve me well in my future work with clients.

4excellent survey of sex therapy  Jun 01, 2007 By Rachel Garrison "Starrydaze"
This book provides excellent coverage of a variety of topics in sex therapy. In addition to addressing the mechanics of the disorder, the authors also give a good balance between pharmacological, medical, and psychotherapy interventions. Especially useful is the emphasis on couples counseling and the distinctions regarding when it would and wouldn't be appropriate. It usually is as couples therapy almost always has a component of sex therapy, and sex therapy has a component of couple therapy. The case studies make the material more accessible and make the material more enjoyable and illuminate the disorder in the context it occurs - within a person and a relationship.

The only limitation is beyond the control of the authors. The lack of empirical validation and controlled studies for many of the interventions. Sex therapy is not paid enough attention in this country, so many of the techniques and interventions described are from limited cases or from other countries - as are the authors.

5Intersting text  Feb 02, 2009 By Delphine M. Herman "mystic lady"
This was a required text for a masters course in Human Sexuality. It is a great resource for many of the discussions and assignments that were required. I will be keeping this book as a resource.

5read it  Aug 24, 2008 By Franklin Banks
I'm a marriage counselor and I think every sexually active adult should read this book; especially men who are struggling to understand their female partners sexual response. It's well researched and I think easy enough to read for the lay person. It reports state of the art therapies for most sexual dysfunctions and describes the different way that men and women experience their sexuality.

5an excellent synthesis of current research and best practice  Feb 19, 2010 By N. Ferguson "Two, Daisy, Hannah, and Kitten"
I first read the 2nd edition of this book in graduate school 20 years ago; each new edition has served to reliably update clinicians concerning developments in the field of sex therapy. This edition seeks to thoughtfully balance and integrate knowledge about medical/pharmacological care with psychological care, offering guidance for clinicians in understanding when and why various approaches make sense.

Helpful, unbiased, evidence-based guidance for clinical practice, covering a very wide spectrum of clinical issues. Highly recommended.
