The idea is an exciting one, but planning long distance can be complicated . . . .
In The Knot Guide to Destination Weddings, Carley Roney and JoAnn Gregoli break down the unique process of planning from afar—from deciding on your destination to whether or not you should fly in your officiant—and all the legal and practical considerations in between. Armed with a variety of experts on the subject, tips, and lessons from couples who have been through the experience, this book is jam-packed with checklists and practical, insightful advice from wedding people in-the-know.

Book Review Oct 09, 2007
By J. Foster It is ok, but different than I thought. It seems to cater to those have BIG destination weddings rather than a simple one with close friends and family. I wish it had more simple ideas.

Good stuff May 07, 2007
By M. Johnson The book has a lot of good suggestions and timelines for destination weddings. They have to be some of the toughest to plan, especially if you're worried about people understanding your vision, but the book makes it doable. Our wedding is in North Carolina, and I am sure everything will be wonderful, thanks in part to the book!

A Huge Help Feb 21, 2010
By M. W. An excellent choice for anyone trying to plan a destination wedding. I'm still in the process of planning mine, but so far this book has been a huge help. Without it, I wouldn't have even known where to start. This book includes time lines; to-do lists; tips on picking the perfect location, what to do if you do/don't plan on visiting your location beforehand, hiring vendors, and planning weekend activities; plus a destination directory, destination wedding worksheets, and LOTS more. I would definitely recommend it to any of my friends.

Fantastic Book!!! Apr 22, 2008

This book is GREAT! It gave me a ton of great ideas and advice on how to plan a successful destination wedding. I've received a lot of positive feedback from my invited guests on every bit of advice I implemented. Things like adding some local currency in the save-the-dates and presenting the wedding as a organized and professional dream vacation have helped more guests commit to attending. There are so many great tips, ideas, and options. I've read three other books on Destination Weddings, but this is the only book you'll need. Kudos to The Knot, they've done it again!

Helpful if you are trying to decide where to go Nov 22, 2009
By B. Welch I already knew I wanted to get married in Vegas. I might have been better off buying something specifically for Las Vegas.
This book is more geared for people who are going to Europe or the islands. It helps you figure out the steps to take and timelines for your event. I found the lists helpful.
