5outstanding FOR ALL ENTERTAINING  Jun 20, 2007 By Ms. Mary B. Pirrone V "cookbook junkie"
Excellent information on cooking large scale (50++) events. Great menu suggestions, excellent tips, OUTSTANDING RECIPES. Certainly not just for weddings - can easily adapt recipes for even family events (the recipes are that good!)

5Very helpful!  Sep 14, 2008 By Patricia Nettleton
My son got married and I catered the event. 200 people and not one glitch! This was a great, helpful book!

4Great cookbook if you are attempting to cater your own event!  Apr 30, 2010 By Buying Books While I Still Can "buying books while I still can!"
This is by far the best cookbook I have found on the subject of large quantity cooking for ANY type of event! I'm playing with the notion of catering my own wedding and have been trying to find recipes for 50 people that don't involve a lot of mayonnaise and cheese displays. I've looked online, at the library, asked friends and family, and finally bought some books off amazon.

I bought this book along with Cooking for a Crowd and The Best-Make Ahead Recipe Cookbook, and I was also loaned a copy of Food for 50. This book by far exceeds the others! The recipes actually sound yummy and there is a nice variety and everything serves 48-50. And everything sounds simple enough to make too! The book is cute and small and too the point.

I think this would be good for anyone trying to cook for their own event, not just weddings. And the beginning has a nice section with tips about wait staff, beverage station, and preparing to make all this food on your own. Really helpful!

I only gave it 4 stars because I wish there had been a section on beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

1Just paid for a lesson in Common Sense  Sep 23, 2009 By A. Deibler
This book is basically useless. It clearly defines things that are common knowledge. Instead of offering tips on how to safely keep food at correct temps, or how to store food and reheat for serving, it just says "keep food at safe temps." Um! Hello! This is just about how every topic is explained; very vague and extremely useless. There are no Pictures and no useful recipes. Don't Waste your money!

1Snooze  Nov 27, 2010 By Diane C Smith
Really don't waste your money. I would of returned it but it would cost about the same as it's price. If you are a caterer like me, you would just toss it.
